Robert is a fictional teenage boy with an infatuation for Gangsta rap. The problem begins when Robert starts taking the subject matter of these songs too seriously and feels he must live the life these artist rap about to get radio play and become a famous Hip-Hop artists. Robert starts selling drugs to gain credibility amongst other rappers in his city and things quickly turn bad after Robert shoots a fein who startled him one night. Now Robert must try to hide the body and deal with the consequences that come along with murdering a member of a gang banger’s family. This song takes you on an emotional roller-coaster that shows Internal Definition’s story telling ability. This song shows how listeners can take the stories these artists tell literally and that as artists, they should make sure not to glorify the bad that people have done in their lives. The lyrics artist spit over instrumentals are much more than punchlines and metaphors, they are lifestyles that listeners idolize and believe to be true. Artist have an obligation to their fans, and spitting rhymes about a life that even they are glad to no longer live, can dramatically alter a listeners life. Robert was produced by Troy K. Hands Up High was written in response to people who had counted Internal Definition out from the beginning and became more aggressive with their attacks when he dropped his debut album, Sunny Skies Thru Suburban Eyez. Whether these responses were comments on his music videos, twitter, or other social mediums, Internal Definition kept thick skin and took the serious critiques he encountered while ignoring others’ attempts to get under his skin. Through all adversity, Internal Definition channeled his frustration with people’s attempts to break him into his lyrics which inspired such lines as “Middle fingers up hold them there until you die, everybody listen up and repeat right after me, Haters ain’t shit there’s never gone be another me”. Internal Definition is accompanied by fellow Hip-Hop artist Mike Blaze who is also an up and coming artist from Southern California. Together, Internal Definition and Mike Blaze, created a catchy yet harsh comeback to the people who had doubted them from the beginning and caused new fans to realize the greatness these two up and coming artist have inside of them. Hands Up High was produced by Mike Blaze. Download the album, Internal Affairs, at http://internal-definition.bandcamp.com/track/hands-up-high-feat-mike-blaze
